Greetings All,

We can also discuss summer plans here since some of you do not have a Facebook account.

Greetings All,

(We can chat further about this on the new discussion forum four our Sunday school class on the church's website or via Facebook...you will find a this information posted in both locations)

Here are the details for Sugar Hollow. The Goodnight's could not make the June 25th date and the McGrew's are just getting back from their honeymoon around that time...so it just didn't seem to be a good date overall.

Here is the layout of Sugar Hollow in July. Some mentioned reserving the pool, so this information revolves around the availability of the pool. Here are the details:

The pool costs $100 to reserve for 4 hrs and is available on the following dates in the afternoon: 13th, 14th, 21st, 27th, and 28th.

The small picnic shelters seat 25 and cost $15.00 per day to rent. They currently have at least one of these available every weekday in July (after the 4th). I personally think a picnic site (these are free) would accommodate us...if we brought an extra table from the church and some camping chairs...but if folks want to do a shelter that is fine too.

We need make our reservations pretty soon, so please get back to me with the following info:

1. Do you want to reserve the pool? (yes, no)
2. What date would you like to do the picnic?
3. Picnic shelter or Picnic site? (choose)

Just so everyone is clear...Wes, please correct me if I am wrong...there is nothing in the CE budget for Sunday school social activities...so we will have to pull our resources to collectively cover the cost of the food, pool, and shelter. So if you are not willing to pony up the $ please let us/me know...obviously, if more families come, the cheaper it will be for everyone.

Ok, I'm done...let me know so I can make the reservations. :D

Here is what I gather from your input:

1. As to the pool...no, we will not reserve the pool--almost everyone who responded agreed.
2. As to a date...a specific date did not emerge; however, it seems that a number of you will be in and out the week of the 20th-24th.
3. Picnic shelter or Picnic site...most agreed that a picnic site would be a better (and cheaper) fit; however, as was pointed out, weather will be more of an issue with a picnic site.

Proposal:

Sugar Hollow picnic Monday, 13 July @ 6:00 PM (can do earlier if you want). We will plan for a site, but if there is rain in the forecast, I will book a shelter so we don't have to reschedule.

For the menu, I'm thinking Hamburgers and hotdogs with cookout type sides: baked beans, slaw, potato salad, pasta salad, etc...and possibly a dessert of some kind.

I will get burgers, dogs, and buns and we can divide up the cost...and if everyone can bring a side and/or dessert...we should be set. We could do water, tea or lemonade for drinks.

Please let me know if the proposed date, time, and details work for you. Also, please let me know what you plan to bring in terms of a side or dessert...so we don't all bring the same thing.

Here are the families who have responded with interest: Arnold, Goodnight, Harris, McGrew, Ritchie, and Wilson

Hope we can get a few others interested!
